Wynn Handman Partnership Schools for the 2025/2026 season.

The Wynn Handman Partnership Program honors the legacy of our co-founder Wynn Handman and supports educational programming where it’s needed most. In an effort to reach students with access to the fewest resources, we will deliver subsidized performances and residencies to Literature to Life Partner Schools. Literature to Life partners will make a multi-year commitment and witness the impact of our programs over time. The program will include performances, workshops, professional development, curriculum resources, and assessment opportunities.

Become a Literature to Life partner and help us grow the next generation of “voices worth hearing.” For more information on how to apply for partnership please contact info@literaturetolife.org

Teacher Testimonials:

Bronx Academy of Letters - Erin Moughon-Smith

“[The students] were all looking for connection, they were all looking for something outside of themselves, and in came this wonderful piece from Lit to Life...students actually ended up staying, sometimes for an hour or more, after class because our conversations after LTL classes were just phenomenal. I cannot recommend this enough. It really helped my students get through a difficult time, and I’m very excited to continue our partnership.”

Community School for Social Justic - Amos Margulies

“The majority of my students had never even seen a play, but within a few minutes, Kelvin had them in the palm of his hands, jumping on chairs and speaking the same Dominican Spanish they speak at home, celebrating their stories and lives and elevating their language. Kelvin was showing them through dozens of different characters and accents: Look! There is theater and there are books that celebrate you exactly as you are. Your life is and has the potential to be a work of art. And so when Kelvin then asked my students to write their own “Memory of Fire,” a moment from their life that still burns inside of them – they wrote.  They saw the potential and worth in their own lives and stories to make art. And not just the academically gifted kids. Everyone. Kids who rolled their eyes at thesis statements and hypotheses – kids who never felt quite at home much less inspired when they were in school – they wrote. And they shared. And like how Oscar Wao was brought to life from the page to the stage, my students were transformed.

It’s such a gift to my students that an organization like Lit to Life is willing to come to a school like mine, perform these wildly ambitious solo shows where they become larger than life, and then stand just a few feet from students, look them in the eye, and show them that their stories and voices – that they matter. I’ve been teaching in the NYC public school system for over a decade, and I promise you that this work matters. Not just to my students on an individual level but to our society and to anyone who loves literature and theater and wants the next generation to love books and Broadway as much as we do.”

Student Testimonials

Bronx Academy of Letters - Aesha K

“I found the whole program very interesting. The way the actor changed emotions so fast during the performance was really cool. My favorite part of the workshop was when Kelvin asked us to write our “Memory of Fire.” We got to express something from our own life and tell our own story. I’ve known my classmates for 3-4 years and I learned more about them through this activity because they shared personal things from their lives that I didn’t know about them before.”

PS88Q - Leo

“It is cool because one person did all the lines! It was very deep and thought out. I will recommend this to some of my friends and family. I want to know what will happen next. Absolute cinema.”
