Nicholas Linnehan
Teaching Artist
Nicholas Linnehan is an avid licensed teacher, director, actor, and writer for film and stage. He is also a strong advocate for the inclusion of Artists with Disabilities being represented accurately.
Previously he has written five original full-length theatrical works: The Real Story, Identity (award-winning) and, Erosion: Life on Life’s Terms, which first premiered in January 2011 and later produced by Identity Theater Co. His latest play, Cripchard the Third explores the intersection of disability and ableism through the use of Verbatim Theater and Shakespeare's text. He has written several children’s theatrical adaptations including Pinocchio, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Sleeping Ugly. His playwriting canon also includes many one-act plays. He wrote, directed, produced, and starred in his first short narrative film Catfish?, which garnered national and international praise, winning awards in multiple festivals including Best Narrative Short Film in the Stamped Out Film Festival.
In 2011 Nicholas founded Identity Theater Company, dedicated to creating opportunities for Artists with Disabilities which is still in existence today (www.identitytheater.org)
Nicholas holds a BA in Theater from CW Post at Long Island University, a MA in Education from Queens College, and an EdD in Community Engaged Theater from New York University. He eagerly looks forward to making great art with great people!
